Today, I'm going to talk about kids. I'm gonna start with the popular question that a lot of people get asked after they pass the sweet and legal age of eighteen; "Do you like kids?"
It's a natural question and there's nothing wrong with it, (apart from if it was meant to be a pickup line) but only grown ups can ask this question. Kid's don't ask this question because thats a silly question for a kid to ask. I mean, that kid is still a kid right? Kid's can't ask each other if they like kids. That's just rediculous.
So when is the dividing point? Is it eighteen? Sixteen? Twelve? What is the general age when a kid [evolves/changes/transforms/mutates] into an adult? When is the age when they start denying that they are a kid. What is the age when the statement "You're still just a kid." becomes offensive. Why do 'grown ups' put kids in the 'immature' category?
Here's my point. Kids are people right? I mean, they are human too. You used to be a kid too right?
Everyone tells me so often, stop being a kid. I'm 29. But I take that as a huge compliment. I've taken survey's that ask, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" and I answer, without thought: "When I grow up, I wanna be a kid." Thats when they say... "Can you answer the question seriously? Or are you never serious?"
If kids are people too, then asking someone if they like kids is the same as asking "Do you like people?" Please answer seriously. "Do you like people?"
It's a loaded question and it's utterly stupid. Do I like people... All people are different. They may act the same, they may look the same, they may even be twins. But they are different. No two people are exactly the same. Without ego, we must realise this. It is a simple fact. It can be interpreted many different ways but at the heart of the matter, no two people are the same... until travelling foward and backwards through time space becomes possible, maybe, that is when the soul will have the capability to split and form an exact replica of a person. Even then, they'd be different cause they would start experiencing different things cause they'd have to be in different places.
So how then can you say you like people or not? They're all different. Two Japanese people are different from each other. Two native Americans are different, so thats a great generalization if you make the statement "Yeah, I like children." But you can make the statement true if you have love for all human beings. Cause if you like everyone, then you must like kids too.
I'm gonna stop babbling. The point is; If we do away with the invisible border line that seperates children from adults, then maybe we could realise a mutual respect, adults could have the chance to understand that kids are people too and maybe kids would have the chance to realise that adults are people too. If all people, adults, kids, middle aged, elderly, all alike, could understand this and understand that there is much to learn, even from a new born child, maybe... maybe we, the human race as a whole would have a slight chance at all becoming human again.
